There is a lot of news and comment happening across the globe about the current COVID-19 virus. U3A Network’s recommendation remains that members regularly look to the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for guidance, as the situation is changing quickly.
DHHS’s current advice is as follows:
“At the present time, there is no evidence of transmission in the community in Victoria so you should continue to go about your business. You don’t need to take actions like limiting your movement in the community or staying at home.”
The Committee of Management is confident that all members will take sensible measures to minimise the risk to all our U3A members.
To minimise the risk, we urge members to refrain from attending a course or activity for two weeks if you:
- have recently returned from overseas
- have upper respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, sneezing or sore throat.
If you decide to not attend a class please notify the class leader.
In addition, members may also wish to limit their use of public transport.
The following link to Victorian Health and Human Services provides guidelines for reducing your risk of infection and a simple self-assessment tool. The following Letter from the Chief Medical Officer regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) provides a comprehensive update of the current status.
We will provide further updates as they become available.
